I have a masters degree in archives and records management, am a Registered Member of the Archives and Records Association (UK) and play an active role in the world of information management.

Professional activities:
- Appointed by the Secretary of State to the Advisory Council on National Records and Archives in 2016. I also serve on its sub-committee, The Forum on Historical Manuscripts and Academic Research
- Member of the Archive Services Accreditation Committee (under the auspices of The National Archives) since 2018
- Member of ARA’s Qualifications Accreditation Team since 2006
- External examiner for the postgraduate archives and records management course at University College London 2010-2014
- Co-founder and first chair of ARA’s Section for Business Records
- Member of the judging panel for the Wadsworth Prize for business history for two years
- Member of Advisory Group on the National Strategy for Business Archives 2008-2009
- Member of the Advisory Council on National Records and Archives from 2016
- Taught the Records Management module on the MA in Archives & Records Management at University College Dublin, autumn semester 2016 and part of the Acquisitions and Appraisal module, spring semester 2017, and the whole Acquisitions and Appraisal module, spring semester 2018
Achievements:
- Managed the relocation of Unilever’s archives and records management services to two purpose-converted buildings in 2004 and 2007
- Designation by the Museums Libraries and Archives Council in 2005 for the United Africa Company collection (the first business archive to achieve this) and again in 2008 for the Unilever archive collections
- A highly commended award for the Unilever Records Management team by the Records Management Society in 2008
- Arranged a charity auction in 2012, raising £6,000 for Cancer Research
- Led the creation and development of Unilever Archives' heritage app about Port Sunlight in 2013
- Accreditation of Unilever’s archive service by The National Archives in 2014
- Organised the annual conference of the International Council on Archives’ Section for Business and Labour Archives in London in April 2014
